Courtney Love has been making headlines for decades because of her live performances, confrontational lyrics, marriage to the late Kurt Cobain and feuds, and it appears the iconic 1990s singer is back in the public eye with some choice words about today’s pop stars.

In an interview with The Standard, the former Hole singer said she felt that women in the music industry today have become a cliché, citing a lack of originality.

“Now, every successful woman is cloned, so there is just too much music. They’re all the same,” Love said. “If you play something on Spotify, you get bombarded with a lot of stuff that’s exactly the same.”

The 59-year-old had more specific thoughts on artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, who recently released her first country album “Cowboy Carter” last month.

While Love said she liked the idea of Beyoncé doing a country album “because it’s about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed,” the singer added, “I just don’t like her music.”

As for Swift, Love said she “is not important,” adding, “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

People have taken to social media expressing their thoughts on Love’s opinions.

One X user said they were not surprised by Love’s comments, saying, “I’m laughing at people being shocked that Courtney Love is hating on other female artists. Welcome to 1992! Homegirl has been a hater since the ’90s.”

Another X user said, “Imagine thinking Courtney Love cares what anyone thinks? She’s an incredible artist, absolutely crazy, and she has zero, and I do mean ZERO worries about current fandoms.”

Others could not care less for Love. Another X user wrote, “I don’t know why anyone gives a (expletive) about what Courtney Love has to say about any artist. I guess this is her only way to stay relevant.”

So who does Love actually admire? She idolizes Patti Smith, Nina Simone, PJ Harvey, Julie London, Joni Mitchell and Deborah Harry, according to her interview with The Standard.
