HOUGHTON LAKE, MI — After allegedly stabbing her husband a number of times, a Roscommon County woman seemingly drove her vehicle into Houghton Lake. She’s now in jail, while her wounded husband is hospitalized.

About 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, Michigan State Police troopers and Roscommon County Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault complaint at a Prudenville address. They arrived to find a 47-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds.

The man told police his wife had stabbed him, then left in the family vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital, then transferred to a Flint hospital for surgery.

While police were still at the scene, they were notified the suspect had driven the vehicle into Houghton Lake at the end of Liberty Street near Houghton View Drive. Police went there and arrested the 42-year-old woman who had been driving.

The woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment of possible injuries, then lodged in the jail on charges of assault with intent to murder and felonious assault.

MLive is not disclosing the woman’s name until she has been arraigned on criminal charges.
