Leland Vittert Accuses Former Fox Colleague Tucker Carlson of Having an ‘Unabashed Hatred of Jews’

NewsNation host Leland Vittert slammed Tucker Carlson and Jon Stewart over recent comments each made about the war in Gaza.

Carlson condemned Israel’s bombings of churches in Gaza, and Stewart criticized Israel’s ongoing war in the territory of 2.3 million.

The Israel Defense Forces launched a full-scale invasion of Gaza in response to the Oct. 7 attacks in which Hamas militants killed 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped more than 200. Since then, Israel’s military has killed more than 32,000 Palestinians in Gaza, displaced about 85% of the population, and destroyed or damaged more than half the buildings in the Strip. An invasion of the city of Rafah – where the IDF has driven more than one million Gazans – appears imminent.

During Wednesday’s On Balance, Vittert played a clip of Stewart’s Daily Show monologue from Monday night.

“Here’s Jon Stewart comparing Israel defending itself against terrorists to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine,” Vittert said, though the clip he aired did not feature the comparison.

“The subtext of all this is America knows this is wrong, but apparently doesn’t seem to have the courage to say it in a straightforward manner,” Stewart said. “America and Israel both know that you cannot bomb your way into safety.”

Stewart did invoke Russia and Ukraine in his monologue on Monday night while showing the contrasting reactions U.S. officials have when it comes to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as opposed to the one in Gaza.

“Stewart’s a smart guy,” Vittert said. “It’s impossible for him to not understand what he is saying.”

The host then pivoted to Carlson, who interviewed a Christian pastor in Bethlehem.

“Not to be outdone, of course, Tucker Carlson interviewed a Christian pastor in Bethlehem, a town fully controlled by the Palestinians for almost two decades, and then blamed Israelis for killing Christians.”

“If you wake up in the morning and decide that your Christian faith requires you to support a foreign government blowing up churches and killing Christians, I think you’ve lost the thread,” Carlson said during an interview with Palestinian Christian Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac.

Vittert reacted by comparing Carlson to Joseph Goebbels:

Joseph Goebbels – the Nazi propaganda chief would be proud. Again, Tucker’s a smart guy. Yet, he’s taking the side of terrorists. There’s no other explanation than his unabashed hatred of Jews.

Twenty years ago, we all remember, Stewart exposed Tucker for what he is. That ended Carlson’s tenure on CNN’s Crossfire. But there’s a larger lesson to take now six months since Hamas attacked Israel, since the hostages were taken.

Hamas has been exposed for what they are. Stewart has been exposed for caving to his liberal viewers. Carlson’s been exposed for siding with terrorists. And now in America – and this is the sad part – hating Jews, calling for their destruction, celebrating their rape, it’s now ok. It’s hard to have peace with people who think that is ok.

In October, an Israeli airstrike hit a Greek Orthodox church in Gaza where displaced people had sought refuge, according to the territory’s interior ministry. Officials said at least 17 Palestinian Christians were killed. The Israeli government took responsibility for the bombing.
