IHSAA girls basketball: See who made 2023-24 ALL-USA Central Indiana Super Team

The 2023-24 Indiana high school girls basketball season is in the books.

Meet this year's ALL-USA Central Indiana girls basketball Super Team, honoring the best of the best from around the area. Players were selected based on coach nominations and comments, individual statistics and team performance.

FIRST TEAM

Jaylah Lampley

Lawrence Central, Jr., 6-1, guard

Lampley will go down among the greatest players in Lawrence Central history, immortalized by her role in leading the Bears to their first state championship in program history. The Indiana Junior All-Star laid the groundwork as an underclassman, then began reaping the rewards as a junior, averaging 18 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.1 steals for LC, which became the first 30-win 4A champion since Ben Davis in 2009.

Lampley dropped 22 points and converted a critical three-point play in the fourth quarter in the sectional semifinals to avert a potential derailment vs. Lawrence North, then capped her tournament run with a 19-point, nine-rebound performance vs. Lake Central in the 4A final.

Insider: State title run just the beginning for Lawrence Central

The 6-1 guard is capable of beating teams in a variety of ways, be it with her length and athleticism within LC's defense, her strength and ability to get to the basket or her range as a shooter (45% FG, 36% from 3, 73% at the line).

Lampley became the program's all-time leading scorer this season and enters her senior year with 1,276 points, 445 rebounds, 152 assists and 148 steals.

Maya Makalusky

Hamilton Southeastern, Jr., 6-4, guard/forward

After committing to IU over the summer and with a younger supporting cast surrounding her, big things were expected of Makalusky. And the 6-4 guard/forward still managed to exceed expectations. The target of constant double teams and junk defenses, she was among the state's top scorers at 26.1 points per game, with each outing allowing her to demonstrate her range as a shooter (50% overall, 41% from 3 — with a number of those coming from well-beyond the arc).

Makalusky converted 10-plus field goals in 11 games, hit six triples in four games (Zionsville, Center Grove, Columbus East and Noblesville) and clocked eight 30-point performances, highlighted by a 37-point outburst in a 76-72 win over Zionsville.

One of Makalusky's best performances came in the annual Mudsock game vs. rival Fishers, wherein she logged 28 points to clear 1,000 for her career and lift the Royals to their first win in the series since 2019.

"We all look for her to take over," teammate Kayla Stidham said afterwards. "She does so much for this team and she brings us composure. Maya's amazing."

Makalusky has 1,315 career points.

Camryn Runner

Hamilton Heights, Sr., 5-11, G

The Evansville-bound senior has one of the smoothest shooting strokes in the state and she effectively weaponized it against opponents over her four varsity seasons, showing off her full-arsenal of shots and converting at an impressively efficient rate: 48% from the field, 38% from 3 and 86% at the free throw line. Runner — who finished with a Hamilton County record 1,962 career points — was virtually unstoppable and so too were the Huskies, who won 80 games with four sectional championships and two regional championships during her career.

"She's performing in a limited-possession game where everybody knows they have to stop Camryn," coach Keegan Cherry said. "It's so hard to get her opportunities and when she gets them, she has to be so efficient. And she has been. … It's remarkable what she's been able to do."

Runner averaged 26.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2.7 assists as a senior, shooting a career-best 51% with a career-high 67 3-pointers. Her season resume included eight games with 30-plus points, clutch performances to beat Lapel and Jennings County, and two games with seven 3s.

In addition to her gaudy point total, Runner also secured 570 rebounds, 195 assists, 288 steals and 39 blocks in four varsity seasons.

All-Freshman team: Meet the next generation of Central Indiana standouts

Reagan Wilson

Noblesville Reagan Wilson (22) tries to get around Fishers Talia Harris (15) to the basket as Noblesville takes on Fishers High School in the S8 IHSAA Class 4A Girls Basketball State Semi-finals; Feb 2, 2024; Fishers, IN, USA; at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Noblesville, Sr., 5-8, G

Wilson's statistics speak for themselves: 16.1 points, 2.5 assists and 3 steals per game this season, with 1,363 points (fourth-most in school history), 356 assists and 289 steals for her career, plus a resume that includes 85 wins, a state championship, two regional titles and three sectional crowns across her four varsity seasons.

But to fully appreciate what the Iowa State commit means to the Millers, you must include the qualitative impact. She is the heart, the engine — a non-stop source of energy and positivity. Wilson (and fellow senior Ava Shoemaker) kept the Millers together as they struggled against the state's toughest schedule entering Christmas break, then propelled them into the final month of the regular season with a 30-point outburst vs. fellow Miss Basketball finalist Jordyn Poole and FW Snider.

Wilson's propensity for the big moments is undeniable (18 points vs. HSE in the sectional final) and she inspired confidence in her younger teammates to step up in big moments, as well.

"Reagan built me up from almost nothing," sophomore Ally Hutchinson said following the semistate final. "She has inspired me so much. She's like a big sister to me."

Faith Wiseman

Indian Creek, Sr., 6-4, F/C

The 6-4 IU commit steadily improved over her first three seasons, then firmly entrenched herself among the state's best as a senior, averaging career-highs in points (18.2), rebounds (11.9, sixth-most statewide), assists (4.8), steals (1.8) and blocks (3.9, third-most statewide). Among Wiseman's 2023-24 game log was 17 double-doubles, two games with 20-plus rebounds and her first career quadruple double: 18 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks in a rout of South Putnam.

Ranked 56th in her class by ESPN, the four-star recruit established herself as a physical paint presence, totaling career-highs with 310 rebounds and 101 blocks as a senior. Her development in the post was on full-display at the Hall of Fame Classic, where Wiseman took over and nearly led the Braves to back-to-back come-from-behind wins against 4A competition: 28 points and 13 rebounds vs. Columbia City, and 19 points, 19 rebounds, four assists and four blocks in the consolation game vs. eventual 4A runner-up Lake Central.

A four-time sectional champ, Wiseman graduates with 1,456 points, 1,072 rebounds, 324 assists, 322 blocks and 174 steals.

SECOND TEAM

Laila Abdurraqib

Lawrence Central High School junior Laila Abdurraqib (44) makes a pass to a teammate during the first half of an IHSAA Class 4A Sectional semi-final basketball game against Lawrence North High School, Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Cathedral High School.

Lawrence Central, Jr., 5-7, G

After battling injuries the past two seasons, Abdurraqib was perhaps the most crucial piece to LC's state championship run, delivering the "winning plays" in key moments that got the Bears on course. She was "the glue," Warren Central coach Stacy Mitchell said. That translated statistically to 11.4 points, 4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game for Abdurraqib, who shot 45% from the field, 39% from 3 and 81% at the line.

One of the 5-7 guard's most notable performances came in the semistate final vs. Center Grove: 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in a come-from-behind win.

More: Laila Abdurraqib 'breathes life into that team.' Now, LC in rarefied air at state finals.

Audrey Annee

Center Grove, Sr., 5-9, G

The West Point commit poured in 13.2 points per game, shooting 45% from the field and an impressive 91-for-223 from 3. That level of efficiency is a defining trait of coach Kevin Stuckmeyer's program and Annee was similarly efficient as a ball handler, averaging 1.9 assists and fewer than one turnover (0.8). She committed multiple turnovers in just three games as a senior and registered multiple assists with zero turnovers on seven occasions.

The 5-9 guard hit six 3s and scored a career-high 28 points vs. Indian Creek in the Johnson County tournament, then hit a clutch 3-pointer at Bedford North Lawrence in regionals that set up a blowout win.

Annee graduates with 967 points, 212 rebounds, 133 assists and 151 steals. She was a career 44% shooter (39% from 3).

Talia Harris

Fishers, Sr., 5-8, G

The Mercer commit is as steady as they come. Her calm demeanor set the tone for the Tigers and could be seen at various points this season, be it the Mudsock game vs. HSE when Harris followed a 24-point effort vs. Noblesville with a career-high 29 points (scored 16 of 18 points over a stretch in the second half) or in the final seconds against Brownsburg when she calmly drilled the game-winning jumper as time expired.

Harris is dangerous off the dribble, but she can just as easily pull up and knock down a mid-range shot. She averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.5 steals, and shot 43% from the field.

More: Her sister's career casts a big shadow. Now, Talia Harris forming own path with Fishers.

Lola Lampley

Lawrence Central High School sophomore Lola Lampley (3) gestures to her teammates as she brings the ball up court during the second half of an IHSAA class 4A girls’ basketball state finals game against Lake Central high School, Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, in Indianapolis. Lawrence Central won the school’s first state championship title in girl’s basketball.

Lawrence Central, So., 6-2, G/F

Lampley won gold with Team USA at the FIBA Americas U16 championship over the summer, and applied that experience to her high school season, becoming "more accountable" as a basketball player, which helped her step in as the one her teammates look to.

A matchup nightmare for most opponents within LC's press (she's long and athletic), the 6-2 guard/forward starred in arguably the team's most important win of the season, scoring 20 points and pulling in five rebounds to rally the Bears past Lawrence North and set them on course for their eventual title run.

A 39% shooter, Lampley averaged 10.4 points, 6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.4 blocks.

Meredith Tippner

Noblesville Meredith Tippner (23) brings the ball down court as Noblesville takes on Fishers High School in the S8 IHSAA Class 4A Girls Basketball State Semi-finals; Feb 2, 2024; Fishers, IN, USA; at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Noblesville, Jr., 5-9, G

A two-time defending state champion in soccer, it should come as no surprise that Tippner wants the ball in those big moments.

The 5-9 junior — who averaged 16.3 points, 9.78 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.3 steals — scored a season-high 27 points to beat Fishers in sectionals, posted 19 points and 10 rebounds vs. FW Snider in regionals and went for 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists vs. Valparaiso at semistate.

Most impressive was Tippner's progression at the line. She shot 49.6% (59-for-119) through her first 19 games, but remained dedicated behind the scenes and found her stride late in the year, converting 25-of-34 (73.5%) over her final eight games.

Tippner has 1,156 points, 675 rebounds, 232 assists and 229 steals for her career.

All-Sophomore team: These 2026 prospects stood out this season.

THIRD TEAM

Avery Gordon

Brownsburg Bulldogs junior Center Avery Gordon catches a pass Jan 5, 2024, at Plainfield High School in Plainfield, Indiana.

Brownsburg, Jr., 6-6, C

Never one to shy away from contact, the Purdue-bound Gordon fought through injury to maintain her sharp upward trajectory. She averaged a career-high 22 points, 9.7 rebounds, an assist and 2.1 blocks, with an expectedly impressive 56% conversion rate from the field.

The Indiana Junior All-Star capped a 41-point performance vs. Westfield with the game-winning shot at the buzzer, and finished the season with 13 games with over 20 points (three with over 30) and 14 double-doubles.

Gordon enters her final high school season with over 1,000 points and nearly 1,000 rebounds.

Emma Haan

Zionsville Emma Haan (13) makes a drive to the basket as Zionsville takes on Hamilton Southeastern High School in the S8 IHSAA Class 4A Girls Basketball State Semi-finals; Feb 2, 2024; Fishers, IN, USA; at Hamilton Southeastern High School.

Zionsville, Sr., 5-7, G

The Eagles lost a massive piece with the graduation of 2023 IndyStar Miss Basketball Laila Hull, but the Vermont-bound Haan ensured they did not skip a beat, putting together a career year that resulted in a 16-7 finish. A 45% shooter, Haan logged 15.6 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while also typically defending the other team's top player. One of her best defensive efforts came against Noblesville when she limited Reagan Wilson to four field goals in an overtime win.

Haan finished her career with 866 points, 158 assists and 127 steals.

Kaycie Warfel

Pendleton Heights, Jr., 5-10, G

Warfel's willingness to play through contact and attack the basket resulted in a career year for the 5-10 guard, who averaged a career-high 25.2 points on 45% shooting. She also tallied 5.8 rebounds, 2 assists and 5.6 steals per game, and scored 20-plus points in all but five games, with two 40-point performances (vs. Heritage Christian and Hamilton Southeastern).

Warfel, who has 1,501 points entering her senior year, was a disruptive presence defensively, as well, with her length and ability to read the floor allowing her to jump passing routes and generate turnovers.

Laniah Wills

Lapel Bulldogs Laniah Wills (11) rushes up the court Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, during the game at Lapel High School in Lapel. Eastern Hancock defeated the Lapel Bulldogs, 62-55.

Lapel, So., 6-0, F

Expectations were sky-high for Wills entering her second varsity season and she did not disappoint. The 6-0 sophomore averaged career-highs across the board: 19.3 points (53% shooter), 12.8 rebounds (4 offensive), 1.7 assists and 2 steals.

An early contender for a core team spot with next year's Indiana Junior All-Stars, Wills was an unstoppable force through the first two rounds of the state tournament. She posted back-to-back 20-point performances in sectional, then dominated Eastbrook in the regional, racking up 28 points (11-of-15 shooting), 12 rebounds, two assists and three blocks.

Wills has 1,015 points and 729 rebounds for her career.

Rachel Wirts

Center Grove Rachel Wirts (33) goes up for a lay up as Bedford North Lawrence takes on Center Grove High School in the Girls Class 4A IHSAA Region 7 basketball championship, Feb 10, 2024; Bedford, IN, USA; at Bedford North Lawrence High School.

Center Grove, Sr., 6-3, F/C

Wirts was perhaps the area's most improved player, demonstrating confidence and a particular determination inside. The Villanova commit doubled her scoring average from the previous two seasons (12.1 ppg) while maintaining her efficiency as a shooter (61%) and resetting her career-high at seven rebounds per game, half of which came on the offensive glass.

The former HomeSchool standout had six double-doubles and went for 16 points in wins over Jennings County and Hamilton Southeastern.

Wirts scored 648 points as a Trojan (three seasons) — over half of which came in 2023-24 — with 431 rebounds, 47 steals, 56 assists and 27 blocks. She had 1,098 points across six varsity seasons if including her three seasons at Indianapolis HomeSchool.
