Steelers Draft Target Drawing Antonio Brown Comparisons
The Pittsburgh Steelers could have a potential superstar waiting for them in the second round of the NFL Draft.
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking increasingly receiver-needy as the 2024 NFL Draft draws closer and closer with Diontae Johnson having been traded to Carolina and the team's free agent signings not figuring to be No. 2 options.
That said, the Steelers have a long list of needs that could push wide receiver down the board but a potential superstar could be waiting for them in the second round in former Georgia Bulldog, Ladd McConkey. The Athletic's Dane Brugler even went as far as to compare him to a former Pittsburgh superstar.
"This is going to be unfair, but I'm going to say his ceiling is like an Antonio Brown," Brugler said. "The inside-outside versatility, the ability to catch and run. Again, we're talking ceiling. We're talking everything goes right, he stays healthy, he hits. Evertying goes right, that's the type of player we're talking about. I understand that's lofty, but that's ceiling. The chances of hitting that ceiling? Probably not super high, but I at least think he has that type of ability because he's super talented.
Who knows if the Steelers hold McConkey in that high of regard but there is clearly interest in him from the organization. They hosted him on a pre-draft visit last week as they seek weapons for Russell Wilson, Arthur Smith and the rest of the new-look offense to play with.
