The 49-year-old faces two charges of assault by beating, with one said to relate to property developer Adam Plumb, 41, whom she married in 2020.

She and the previously-wed dad of one had marital problems last year and were divorcing, it was claimed.

Schmid’s Army bomb disposal expert husband, Staff Sgt Olaf “Oz” Schmid, died while defusing a device in Afghanistan on the day before he was due to come home in 2009.

She wore his medals as she walked behind his coffin at Truro Cathedral in Cornwall.

Schmid, who campaigned for better Army pay and pensions, received his George Cross from the late Queen.

Three years after Oz’s death, Christina revealed she had found love again with another soldier called Mark Clarke, and believed Oz would have given her his blessing.

They had a daughter two years later but split in June 2019.

Schmid and Mr Plumb lived in Ivybridge, Devon.

She is set to appear in Newton Abbot magistrates’ court on April 11.
