2024 Defensive Line Prospect Visits Buccaneers in Tampa Bay

Tampa Bay picked a defensive lineman with their first pick in the draft last year — could they do it again?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers nabbed a solid pass rusher who could grow into something great with defensive tackle Calijah Kancey in the 2023 NFL Draft. That would immediately seem to indicate that they wouldn't pick there this time around, but you never know with general manager Jason Licht.

Like all NFL teams, the Bucs are hosting their Top 30 prospect visits as the NFL Draft draws nearer. A recent one happens to be another defensive lineman, as Tampa Bay hosted Texas DL Byron Murphy II on a visit to the team facility.

Murphy is certainly a force to be reckoned with on the defensive line. He had five sacks last year and 29 total tackles on the year, but much like Calijah Kancey, he's also a little small — he comes in at 6'0", 297 pounds. As such, it's unlikely that the Bucs would draft another defensive lineman in a similar vein to Kancey, but as stated before, you just never know what general manager Jason Licht is planning.

Murphy at least visited, though, unlike Kancey. The Bucs picked Kancey last year despite not hosting him for a Top 30 visit — in fact, Kancey didn't have a Top 30 visit with anyone, so Tampa Bay may not even tip their hand with these sorts of visits.
