McConnell AFB relocates aircraft ahead of severe weather
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - McConnell Air Force Base is relocating most of its aircraft due to potential severe weather.
“The relocation protects the aircraft from potential damage, preserving McConnell’s ability to provide air refueling, airlift and aeromedical evacuation support around the globe,” said McConnell.
Storm Team 12 says storms will likely fire up between Dodge City and Hays between 7 and 8 p.m. and move northeast at 30 to 40 miles per hour once they develop.
There is a window from around sunset until midnight, where tornadic activity is possible.
The severe weather will likely steer clear of Wichita, but rain and thunder may occur between 1 and 4 a.m.
