Thirteen athletes from across the High Desert are in the running for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week. 

Daily Press readers can vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website.

The poll closes on Wednesday night.

Here are the choices for the week, based on performances from April 8 to 13.

High Desert Sports Roundup:Dani Jackman slugs 60th career home run, ties CIF-SS record

  • Aiden Carlson, Academy for Academic Excellence softball — Aiden tallied seven hits over three games for the Knights. She began the week by going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs in a 7-6 loss to University Prep on April 9. The following day, Aiden led the Knights to an 11-1 victory over CIMS at the plate and in the circle. Aiden struck out six batters, allowed one run on three hits, and went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a run and a stolen base. She went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run in a 12-1 victory over CIMS on April 12. 
  • Amaya Sigala, Oak Hills softball — Amaya racked up nine hits over three games for the Bulldogs last week. Amaya began the week by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs in a 16-5 victory over Serrano on April 8. She followed that up by going 4-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and four runs as the Bulldogs beat Hesperia 27-0 on April 10. Amaya ended the week by going 2-for-4 with a home run, a RBI and a run as Oak Hills lost 9-8 to Apple Valley on April 12. 
  • Bethany Morrison, Apple Valley softball — Bethany had a big day at the plate to lead the Sun Devils to a 9-8 victory over Oak Hills on April 12. Morrison smacked a three-run home run in a five-run fifth inning, and ended going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs. Bethany went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in a 10-0 loss to Sultana on April 8. 
  • Brayden Booth, Sultana baseball — Brayden had a big week for the Sultans in two big victories over Serrano. Brayden began the week by going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs in a 16-2 victory over April 10. He followed that up with driving in six runs in a 19-2 victory on April 12. Brayden ended 3 -for-4 with a home run and three runs. 
  • Brody Earnest, Apple Valley golf — Brody had a record-breaking performance as the Sun Devils beat Oak Hills by a score of 181-276. Brody set a school record by ending four strokes under par, with a 31 at Apple Valley Golf Course on April 11. The previous school record was three under par. On April 9, Brody led Apple Valley to a 196-256 victory over Sultana as he shot a 34, to end two strokes under par.

  • Cash Nunez, Silverado track and field — Cash had a strong showing, winning four events, at a tri-meet against Victor Valley and Adelanto on April 8. Cash took first place in the 400-meter (52.66), 800-meter (2:12.59) and 1,600-meter (5:06.45) races. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay race. 
  • Dani Jackman, University Prep softball — Dani hit a home run in each of the three games for the Jaguars last week. On April 12, Dani smacked her 16th of the season and the 60th of her varsity career. That home run tied the CIF-Southern Section record. She ended going 5-for-5 with two doubles, seven RBIs and two runs. In three games last week, Dani reached base in all 13 plate appearances. Dani went 2-for-2 on April 9 in a 7-6 victory over AAE, and then 2-for-2 with two RBI and four runs in a 16-0 victory over Big Bear the following day. 
  • Haylee Stanislawski, Silverado softball — Haylee fell a single shy of the cycle and drove in six runs as Silverado beat Adelanto 15-13 on April 9. She ended 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two runs. Haylee ended the week by going 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and five runs in a 17-16 extra-innings victory over Adelanto on April 11. 
  • Holden Franke, Apple Valley tennis — Holden didn’t drop a set in three matches for the Sun Devils last week, going 9-0. He swept in a loss to Oak Hills to begin the week on April 8, and then ended the week with another sweep in a 10-8 victory over Hesperia on April 11.
  • Nate Carlson, Academy of Careers and Exploration golf — Nate’s dominance within Cross Valley League action continued last week in two league matches. Nate began the week by shooting a 35, as ACE shot 222 as a team on the north course at Silver Lakes Country Club on April 9. Two days later on the same course, Nate led all shooters with a 31 as ACE shot 206 as a team.  
  • Saylor Croom, Granite Hills softball — Saylor had a big day at the plate with three extra-base hits in a 19-0 victory over Victor Valley on April 11. Saylor went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, five RBIs and three runs to lead the offense. Saylor also drew two walks and scored a run as Granite Hills beat Victor Valley 10-0 on April 9. 
  • Savannah Vanderpool, Sultana softball — Savannah struck out 10 batters and allowed two hits over six innings in a 10-0 victory over Apple Valley on April 10. She also went 3-for-4 with a home run. In a 17-1 victory over Burroughs on April 12, Savannah struck out five batters and allowed one run on two hits.
  • Trevor Dames, Silverado track and field — Trevor had a strong showing at a tri-meet against Adelanto and Victor Valley on April 8. Trevor won three events, including the 100-meter dash with a mark of 10.97 seconds. Trevor also took first place in the long jump with a mark of 20 feet and 10 inches, as well as a mark of 40 feet in the triple jump. 

Nominations must be received for consideration by Sunday morning following that week's games. Anyone can nominate an Athlete of the Week for every varsity sport.
