AANG: THE LAST AIRBENDER Animated Movie Will Follow Aang as an Adult and Dave Bautista Joins Project

Paramount Pictures is developing a new Avatar: The Last Airbender animated trilogy and it will launch with Aang: The Last Airbender!

During CinemaCon this past week, the studio announced that the film will follow Aang as an adult. The also revealed they’ve cast Eric Nam and Dave Bautista in the movie.

Nam will voice Aang in the film and Bautista has been cast in a villain role. They are joined by Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, and Roman Zaragoza.

The movie will be directed by Lauren Montgomery, who worked as a storyboard artist on Avatar: The Last Airbender and the sequel series The Legend of Korra.

The film project is set up at Avatar Studios, and the production is being led by the original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

Nickelodeon president Brian Robbins opened up a bit on the plans, saying: “We are in the early stages of developing and exploring what we are calling an entire Avatar Airbender universe.

He added: “Mike and Bryan are hard at work, and I think that universe will encompass definitely a theatrical film, animation, certainly multiple TV series and probably multiple films.”

Robbins concluded: “I think we will be ready very soon to tell the world what is coming first but we are not there yet because we’re in early stages of creative development.”

Aang: The Last Airbender is set to hit theaters on October 10th, 2025.
