Small plane makes emergency landing at Ford Airport

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Nobody was hurt after a small plane had to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, a spokesperson for the airport told News 8.

Around 4 p.m., a Cessna 210 took off from Runway 8L/26R, an east-west runway used by general aviation aircraft. Only the pilot was on board, according to the spokesperson.

The pilot then reported a loss of power and requested an immediate return, the airport said. The pilot landed safely on the grass about 300 yards short of Runway 8L/26R.

The airport told News 8 that nobody was hurt and there was no leaking fuel. The emergency landing was classified as an Alert Level 1, which is the lowest level.

Airport police and Cascade Township firefighters responded to the scene.
