Everton's position in the Premier League table remains unchanged for the time being after Nottingham Forest's fresh points deduction.

It was confirmed on Monday that Forest would be handed a four-point deduction in the top-flight. The decision was reached following a two-day hearing earlier this month by an independent commission.

The decision is the second time this season that a club has been deducted points in the Premier League. Everton were the first after a 10-point deduction was issued late last year before it was reduced to six points following an appeal.

Forest will have the opportunity to appeal their recent points deduction, which leaves the relegation picture increasingly uncertain. The Blues are also set to have a hearing for a second set of charges for an alleged breach later this month with the outcome uncertain.

Before Monday, Everton had 25 points and were in 16th place in the Premier League table, level on points with 17th-placed Forest who have a marginally worse goal difference. Now the table has changed slightly following the points deduction for the City Ground club.

Now Forest have 21 points with the deduction, which sees them fall to 18th in the table and into the relegation zone. Luton Town now move up to 17th and out of the bottom three with 22 points - Burnley (17) and Sheffield United (14) still occupy the bottom two positions in the Premier League table.

Everton do not return to the pitch until the end of the month, following the conclusion of the international break. The Blues face Bournemouth on March 30, before travelling to face Newcastle United a few days later on April 2.
