A rough guide to Liam Gallagher and John Squire

The duo bagged the No. 1 spot with their debut album earlier in March and are scheduled to appear on the Jimmy Fallon show on Wednesday.

Update:
Gallagher & Squire

It sounds like a match made in heaven as two of the principal driving forces of iconic 90s bands Oasis and The Stone Roses come together for a collaboration record with Liam Gallagher (the voice of classics such as Wonderwall, Slide Away, Supersonic) hooks up with songsmith John Squire’s writing (the creative force behind the likes of Made of Stone, Fools Gold and I Am the Resurrection).

The eponymously titled album (Liam Gallagher & John Squire), released on 1 March 2024 shot to the No. 1 spot in the UK charts and was by and large positively received by the music press who claim that the duo compliment one another well but with the album unlikely to draw in a new audience.

“Psychedelic rock in its original form, the album as a testament to enjoying life, is unrivalled” (Clash)

“You don’t have to be greater than the sum of your parts when the parts are already as great as this” (Telegraph)

The album saw Gallagher secure his 14th UK number one after eight No. 1s with Oasis along with five top billing records with Beady Eye and also as a solo artist with the album being the former Stone Roses guitarist’s first taste of a number one.

Tour dates and reaction

The duo promoted the album with a 13 date tour taking in the UK, Paris, Berlin, Milan and is set to conclude on 11 April at the Paramount in Brooklyn (NYC).

However, the reaction from the UK shows has been lukewarm from the critics with the duration of the concerts coming under criticism with many fans feeling ripped off after shelling out over $80 for a 50 minute performance with both artists pre-warning fans that no Oasis or Stone Roses repertoire would be performed on the tour.

Festival shows will inevitably follow with the next date in the promotional calendar being a performance on the Tonight Show with the duo expected to perform ‘Mars to Liverpool’ and album opener ‘Raise Your Hands’.
