MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — Miami Township Police are hosting an event soon to help residents get rid of unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications.

“Prescription Drug Take Back Day” is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami Township Police Department (MTPD).

According to a release, the event will see officers “collecting unused, unwanted and expired prescription drugs as part of a nationwide effort.”

Regularly the department has a disposal box, available in the lobby area for these purposes.

The national iteration of Prescription Drug Take Back Day is an overall effort to properly and responsibly dispose of prescription medications without causing safety and waste hazards.

On April 27, the MTPD will be accepting tablets, capsules and patches at the event. Syringes, illegal/illicit drugs and sharps will not be accepted.
