Elks Lodge No. 380 hosted an Eclipse Watch Party on April 8, with 125 Elks, their guests and community members enjoying the celestial event, along with burgers, hot dogs and snacks, while listening to live music all afternoon by the Rusty Marshall Band.

Rebecca Taormina, an assistant professor of physical science at National Park College, provided informative brochures, charts and answered questions regarding the eclipse, a news release said.

The Drug Awareness Committee distributed informational material from the Drug Awareness trailer, specially designed T-shirts were sold during the event, and a "Paparazzi" jewelry display "added to the festival atmosphere," the release said.

Proceeds from the event went to the Lodge Maintenance Fund.

"Elks from many states, including California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Hampshire and South Carolina visited during the event, and there were 10 RVs and four 'dry campers' utilizing Lodge facilities. Many Elk Lodges across the United States have RV and camp facilities available to visiting Elks, one of the many benefits of Elk membership," the release said.
