Last year, I was hit by a car while on a training run for the 2023 Chicago Marathon, so running Boston is a bit of a therapeutic experience for me. This is something I know a thing or two about as a therapeutic mentor for the Home for Little Wanderers, where I support local youth and families with one-on-one mental health services in their homes and at school.

A lot of kids don’t have the opportunity to connect with others about things they’re thinking about or feeling, especially young men. Plus, therapy can be stigmatized or the experiences they’re having difficult to process.

There is something so special about being able to be that person for these young people. I guess you could say that running Boston is about healing and growth, not only for me, but for the children and families The Home touches.
