SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — A fire early Tuesday caused an estimated $2.5 million in damage to a Sioux Center auto parts store.
A passerby called 911 at about 2 a.m. after seeing flames at the NAPA Auto Parts store at 1011 N. Main Ave.
Sioux Center fire chief David Van Holland said the business was about half engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The auto parts store was destroyed, but firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to two connected buildings, which sustained some smoke damage.
Crews from Ireton, Orange City, Hull and Rock Valley also responded. There were no injuries.
The fire's cause remains under investigation.
Just prior to the call, Van Holland said Sioux Center firefighters had returned from extinguishing a gas line fire caused by a lightning strike.
