WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Seniors from all nine public high schools in Wichita had the opportunity to set themselves up for success at a district-wide job fair on Tuesday. Students could interview with local businesses and talk to various employers about pursuing full-time careers after graduation.

Kalon Kirk, a senior at South High School, said the wide variety of companies attending the job fair was genuinely eye-opening, showing how many different careers are possible in Wichita.

“There’s a lot of careers here that I’ve never seen actually anywhere else,” said Kirk. “This really gives like a unique take on the jobs offered in Wichita because there are just places that you don’t see anywhere else.”

Representatives of nearly every industry and sector were there to help students navigate life after high school, from the aviation industry to military and public services, the medical field, construction, and even the City of Wichita itself.

More than 250 jobs were available to students who attended the career fair, located at Alvin Morris Administrative Center. According to WPS, students have more than 100 opportunities to earn college credit while in high school, and the district offers 25 different Career and Technical Education Pathways in seven career areas.
