*Let’s just call it what it is. The air is thick with animosity, no, HATE, as British singer-songwriter Lily Allen takes a not-so-subtle dig at Beyoncé‘s perpetual youthfulness.
In her “Miss Me?” podcast alongside co-host Miquita Oliver, Allen, 38, suggested that Beyoncé, 42, might be availing herself of some assistance in maintaining her beauty.
During the discussion, as reported by Page 6, Miquita praised Beyoncé’s timeless appearance, remarking on how she inspires anticipation for one’s 40s. To this, Allen interjected with her observation, “Yeah, but she’s getting some help.”
Miquita quickly defended Beyoncé, stating adamantly, “She has not had any work done if that’s what you’re implying.”
Clarifying her stance, Allen emphasized, “I didn’t say that, but she’s got a great team of stylists, great hair people, she works out, [she’s] got access to the best personal trainers in the world… she’s Beyoncé.”
Allen also suggested that Beyoncé’s recent foray into country music with her “Cowboy Carter” album was a strategic move, describing it as “calculated.” She referenced Beyoncé’s cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” as an example of this calculated strategy.
“It’s quite an interesting thing to do when you’re trying to tackle a new genre and you just choose the biggest song in that genre [to cover]. I mean, you do you, Beyoncé,” Allen remarked.
She further speculated that Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z’s Grammy stage moment, where he expressed frustration over her lack of Album of the Year wins, was part of a larger promotional campaign.
Allen noted that Beyoncé’s dominance on country radio following the release of her album shows she’s strategically targeting that market.
Allen is known for her outspoken nature. In a recent interview on the “Radio Times Podcast,” she humorously acknowledged that having two children hindered her chances of becoming a major pop star.
“My children ruined my career,” she jokingly said, before explaining, “I mean, I love them, and they complete me, but in terms of, like, you know, pop stardom, totally ruined it.”
Despite this setback, Allen expressed satisfaction with her decision to prioritize her children over her career, highlighting the importance of being present in their lives.
“It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, you can’t. Some people choose their career over their children, and that’s their prerogative,” she remarked.
