      Season 1 – BoJack Horseman

      2014 Comedy Animation List
71% 28 Reviews Tomatometer 90% 1,000+ Ratings Audience Score A humanoid horse, BoJack Horseman -- lost in a sea of self-loathing and booze -- decides it's time for a comeback. Once the star of a '90s sitcom, in which he was the adoptive father of three orphaned kids (two girls and a boy). The show was the hottest thing around, then suddenly, was canceled. Now 18 years later, BoJack wants to regain his dignity. With the aid of a human sidekick and a feline ex-girlfriend who is his agent, he sets out to make it happen. But Hollywood is vastly different from those days, and getting used to stuff like Twitter may take some time. This first animated series from Netflix -- with plenty of references to sex, drugs and alcohol -- is not for the little ones. Read More Read Less

It's intermittently funny, but in most respects, BoJack Horseman pales in comparison to similar comedies.

Tristan C Super funny and an original storyline. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Defenda 1 gets better the more you watch it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/11/24 Full Review Paul W Basic start but very good story Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review David W Smart, funny, and creative in the portrayal of its own universe, BoJack Horseman's first season sets the stage for a great series. The opening theme and closing credits are not to be missed. I would definitely watch this season again. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Gol B This is a masterpiece Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/08/23 Full Review Olaf L Obviously a clever add to the animated sitcom industry, however Bojack Horseman Season 1 has many interesting ideas but none of them are fully explored to the maximum. Nevertheless, this con creates room for improvement in the later seasons. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Sarah Mirk Bitch Media Amid a slate of TV shows where story arcs are neatly wrapped up and protagonists come to upbeat epiphanies over the span of 30 minutes, Bojack is a soothing balm of darkness. Feb 10, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Once [the show found its stride]...it revealed a great sensitivity alongside its earthier elements, as well as a wonderful articulacy in unpacking our quotidian burdens and entertainment-industry conventions. Sep 19, 2018 Full Review Les Chappell AV Club What holds BoJack Horseman together in the early goings is largely the work of its cast. Rated: B- Aug 27, 2017 Full Review Alex Diedrick Uproxx The writing is sharp, the jokes are layered, and the situations are hilarious, but there's a melancholy undercurrent to the series. Despite being a horse, Bojack is also one of the most human characters on television. Nov 11, 2021 Full Review Anghus Houvouras Flickering Myth While BoJack Horseman might not be the flashiest or most heralded show, it stands among the most entertaining and most original. The balance between drama and comedy makes it unique in the animated landscape and far more rewarding. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Randy Dankievitch TV Over Mind Once BoJack looks inward, it quickly develops into a heart-wrenching tale of failure and the journey to forgive oneself, a much more complex, dark subject to handle than silly Hollywood (excuse me; Hollywoo) satires and hilarious cat jokes.
