VIDEOS: Tornado, funnel cloud spotted near Columbus as severe weather rolls through area
COLUMBUS, Neb. (WOWT) - Tornado warnings popped up Tuesday afternoon in areas northwest of Omaha as the storm system moved into Iowa.
The National Weather Service also issued a tornado warning Tuesday afternoon for northwest Colfax County and southeast Stanton County just after 1 p.m.; it was canceled about 35 minutes later.
Trent Mastny sent us a video of a tornado that appeared to touch down near Howells, Neb., located about 35 miles northeast of Columbus.
A tornado was also spotted in Platte County near Cornlea, located about 34 miles northwest of Columbus, prompting a tornado warning through 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Platte County Emergency Manager’s office shared photos of storm damage near Creston, Neb., located about 23 miles straight north of Columbus.
