Two people died in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday that occurred at 12:26 p.m. on Interstate 80 just west of Walcott, the Iowa State Patrol said.
A 1999 Lexus was westbound on I-80 when at mile marker 281 the driver lost control for an unknown reason.
The Lexus rolled multiple times into the ditch on the north side of the roadway and came to rest on its top.
A man riding in the front passenger seat without a seat belt was ejected from the vehicle. Both the man and the woman driver, who was wearing a seat belt, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Assisting the Iowa State Patrol at the scene were the Scott County Sheriff's Department, Scott County Medical Examiner's Office, Walcott Fire Department and Ambulance, and Durant Fire Department.
The names of the victims were not released Saturday pending notification of next of kin.
