TUCSON (KVOA) - The community continues to mourn the death of one of their own today.

Officer Adam Buckner died in the line of duty Sunday night. Officer Buckner was killed in a car crash while he was responding to a call.

Today, a procession was held to transfer the officer's body from the Office of the Medical Examiner to the mortuary.

Carrillo Tucson Mortuary is located across the street from Tucson Police Headquarters. Right now, the honor guard and police officers are standing watch over the fallen officer.

"It was a very moving and solemn experience to be a part of that. This is our brother agency Tucson Police Department we work together quite frequently."

And today they're working on the procession for fallen officer Adam Buckner.

It began at the Medical examiner's office. It gives the community as well as other officers an opportunity to mourn as a whole and to honor the service of Lead Officer Adam Buckner.

Other law enforcement agencies also were part of the procession including Sgt. Geoffrey Barber from the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

"It's just good to see a lot of law enforcement agencies around the area coming united at a time where everybody is hurting."

Sgt. Barber was among the hundreds of vehicles who were driving along Interstate 10 with their flashing emergency lights.

The six-mile trip normally would take 11 minutes but today it took longer.

"We lost a brother and regardless who we work for we all feel the pain, we wanted to be their support them and be with them and know that they are not alone through this."

Sgt. Barber is a member of the Pima County Sheriff's Honor Guard, so honoring fallen officers is what they do he didn't know Lead Officer Adam Buckner, however, he added, "As soon as you put this uniform on you're a brother or a sister to us and that's how law enforcement is. We come together and always have had that brotherhood in the law enforcement community."

No word yet on funeral arrangements.
