GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro man is being charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing his son on Saturday night, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
At around 11:24 p.m. on Saturday, officers came to the 3800 block of Belhaven Drive in Greensboro after getting a report of an assault and a shooting.
The 911 caller reported that a father had shot his son.
When police arrived at the scene, they spotted an armed man walking into the woods at the dead end of Belhaven Drive.
A drone and a K-9 were used to locate the suspect, who police identified as 78-year-old Larry Wendell Hilliard. He surrendered to officers and was taken into custody.
The victim, 56-year-old Larry Todd Hilliard was found inside of the home and died as a result of his injuries.
The father, Larry Wendell Hilliard, is being charged with first-degree murder and assault by pointing a gun. He is being held without bond.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Police say that the fatal shooting is the 13th homicide of the year in the City of Greensboro.
