A Bryan man was arrested Monday evening for allegedly being in possession of more than 50 items that contained identifying information of people other than himself, according to the College Station Police Department.
Joe Anthony Almaraz, 52, has been charged with fraudulent use or possession of identifying information in the amount of 50 or more, unlawful use of a vehicle, evading arrest with a previous conviction and possession of methamphetamine, according to Brazos County Jail records.
At 8:44 p.m., police said officers received a report of a man on a moped allegedly harassing people in the 100 block of Luther Street. A nearby resident told officers that the suspect was around the other side of the building.
Police made contact with the suspect, who was identified as Almaraz, according to the probable cause report. Officers said he was sitting on the ground next to a moped sifting through a black bag. According to police, the moped was identified as having been stolen last Thursday.

Police said Almaraz began leaving the area and would not respond to requests by police to stop. Ultimately, officers said Almaraz stopped after police threatened to use a taser on him.
Inside the black bag, police found 107 pieces of identifying information including, names, addresses, bank account numbers, and other miscellaneous mail items, according to officers.
A small amount of methamphetamine was also found in the bag, according to police.
Fraudulent use or possession of identifying information in the amount of 50 or more is a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000. Possession of 1 to 4 grams of methamphetamine is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest with a previous conviction are both state jail felonies, each punishable by up to two years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.
Almaraz is being held under a $30,000 bond, according to jail records.
