A person was killed and another injured after they struck a tree in a solo vehicle crash in Stevenson Ranch early Friday morning.

Around 12:40 a.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on The Old Road and Constitution Avenue in Stevenson Ranch, said Fred Fielding a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“It was a solo vehicle into a tree,” Fielding said.

The driver and passenger were transported to the hospital. The driver was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician, according to officials with the California Highway Patrol.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Mario Alberto Contreras Hernandez, 39, of Castaic, was identified as the driver the vehicle.
