Montgomery woman dead from blow to head with dumbbell; suspect charged

A woman died Sunday after she was hit in the head with a dumbbell in Montgomery.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Summer Blackmon.

Police and fire medics responded at 12:05 a.m. Sunday on a general medical call in the 600 block of Community Street, said police Capt. Raymond Carson.

Blackmon was dead on the scene.

Initially, Carson said, the circumstances surrounding Blackmon’s death were unknown. Further investigation turned up evidence of a homicide.

Charging documents against 41-year-old Darrick Onel Wilson state Blackmon’s blunt force trauma death resulted from a blow to the head with a dumbbell.

Wilson, charged with murder, was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center at 9:33 a.m. Sunday and remains held without bond.

A possible motive has not yet been disclosed.
