HONOLULU (KHON2) — State Rep. Trish La Chica and the Honolulu Police Department partnered together to hold a public safety awareness event Thursday morning.

Mililani community members and area students sign-waved during the morning commute.

The event’s message focused on public safety topics including driver safety, bullying, and more. Wake Up 2Day went live from Mililani with Rep. La Chica to find out more details.

“The purpose is really to just spread aloha, show aloha especially with everything that’s been happening across the state and here in our community,” said Rep. La Chica.

The sign-waving was held outside the Town Center of Mililani at Meheula Parkway and Lanikuhana Avenue from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

“Heading into Easter this is just an important message for us we’ve always prioritized public safety,” said Rep. La Chica.
