Here are the top 30 girls soccer players in the Springfield area for the 2024 season

This girls soccer season promises to be a good one in the Springfield area.

Chatham Glenwood, the defending Class 2A state champions, reloads with a stacked junior class, including twin sisters Rylann and Rowann Law. Other Central State Eight Conference teams such as Rochester, Springfield High and Sacred Heart-Griffin don’t lag too far behind either.

Pleasant Plains additionally retains almost its entire lineup from last year’s third-place finish in 1A and moves up to 2A this year. Other Sangamo Conference teams such as Williamsville and Athens also bring back their top players after netting regional titles.

Here are the top girls soccer players in the Springfield area:

Charlotte Beatty, Rochester

The senior midfielder produced eight goals and six assists on a team that went 19-4-2 overall and reached the 2A sectional finals before losing to eventual state champion Glenwood, 1-0.

Macey Chambers, Athens

The senior defender buoyed the Warriors to their first regional title in program history and was named all-Sangamo Conference second team. Fellow seniors Aaliyah Edgington and Kyla Davis (177 saves) will also steel the defense after going 17-7-1 overall.

Chloe Crawford, Southeast/Lanphier

The junior forward/midfielder totaled 10 goals and is among several key returning starters who will be bolstered by a coop with Lanphier this year. Mia Hinkle supplied seven goals while Keira Campbell had two. Maya Ashenfelter, Teagan Reynolds and goalkeeper Talaya Williams will anchor the defense. Sophomore Maylin Rodriguez, of Lanphier, will add depth, along with freshman attacker Presly Wertz.

Alyse Day, Rochester

The senior goalkeeper posted 11 shutouts while allowing just 26 goals. She was an all-CS8 pick and will play at McKendree University.

Annemarie Fraas, Jacksonville

The junior midfielder is a third-year starter and pitched in three goals and an assist last season. Sophomores Emalee Pool and Emma Guidish are the only other returning starters. The Crimsons will hope to achieve 10 wins for the first time in a decade.

Adi Fraase, Pleasant Plains

The senior center back helped usher 23 shutouts en route to the team’s first state appearance since 2009. The Illinois High School Soccer Association all-sectional pick intends to play both basketball and soccer at Lincoln Land Community College. Junior Kendall Sims and senior goalkeeper Elle Walker will reinforce the defense. Sims, another all-sectional honoree, knocked in the go-ahead penalty kick in the 1-0 sectional final win over Sacred Heart-Griffin.

Lyla Franke, Chatham Glenwood

The junior midfielder delivered the decisive goal in the sectional final win over Rochester and manufactured nine goals and nine assists.

Samantha Fulton, Staunton

The junior midfielder was the team’s offensive MVP with 15 goals and four assists. Senior forward Bre Feeley mustered 11 goals and four assists. Senior defender Jessica Futrell also returns as the defensive MVP.

Callie Gill, Auburn

The junior midfielder was selected all-Sangamo Conference first team with 25 goals and 11 assists. The Trojans will certainly boast experience at the position that also includes Karlissa Clark (seven goals and five assists), Katie Pace (seven goals and 10 assists) and Lauren Spellbrink (five goals and eight assists).

Ashley Gil, Beardstown

The senior forward/midfielder appeared on the IHSSCA all-sectional roster for a second straight season with 25 goals and 15 assists.

Ella Hartman, Lincoln

The senior defender will be assisted by Jenna Bowman and Arianna Morris on the back line after going 16-8 overall. Lincoln faces a steeper challenge in its first year back in the CS8 and will need to replace its top scorers, Grace Curry and Hattie Mourning, who combined for 72 goals.

Kamryn Hoffman, Springfield High

The sophomore forward made her IHSSCA all-state debut with 26 goals and 19 assists.

Karsyn Jacoby, Athens

The junior forward cashed in the lone goal in the 1-0 regional final over Champaign St. Thomas More for the team’s first regional plaque. The all-sectional player totaled 28 goals and seven assists. Junior Ellie Shiffer (10 goals and seven assists) and senior Emersen Lane (seven goals and five assists) also contributed offensively.

Bailey Leach, Pleasant Plains

The sophomore midfielder already has four goals in the team’s first two matches of the season. She not only debuted as an IHSSCA all-sectional pick but she also won the SJ-R's Small School Girls Soccer Player of the Year award with team bests in goals (28) and assists (29). The team’s prolific sophomore class also includes Grace Sabatka (14 goals and 10 assists) and Raelyn Brammer (21 goals and 17 assists). Leach’s younger sister, Jada, also joins the roster.

Rowann Law, Chatham Glenwood

The junior forward scored the go-ahead goal to help seal a dramatic 2-0 double-overtime victory over Lisle Benet Academy in the 2A state championship match. She wound up with 15 goals and seven assists, the second-highest scorer on the team behind twin sister, Rylann.

Rylann Law, Chatham Glenwood

The junior forward garnered IHSSCA all-state laurels with 42 goals and 10 assists. She supplied all five goals in a stunning 5-0 victory over then-defending champion Troy Triad for the team’s first state appearance since 2015.

Jordyn Loveless, Carlinville

The junior forward amassed 31 goals and nine assists. She was tabbed IHSSCA all-sectional. Junior Eve Whitler (four goals and seven assists), sophomore Emilee Wendling (three goals and four assists) and senior Mia Smith (four goals) are also back in the mix. Sophomore Savanna Siglock had seven shutouts at the net.

Kate Loveless, North Mac

The senior forward will attempt to lead the offense with fellow senior midfielder Sophie Hawkins and junior midfielder Trinity Swick after uncorking four goals and five assists last season.

Bridget Lyons, Springfield High

The sophomore midfielder scored 13 goals and 14 assists to rake in IHSSCA all-sectional accolades. Senior Maddie Foster is expected to make this position an even bigger strength for the Senators.

Tatyana Mehundrew, Lutheran/Calvary

The senior defender has twice lapped up IHSSCA all-sectional honors over her career. She will play at Lincoln Land Community College.

Taylor Offer, Rochester

The junior forward/midfielder was tabbed an all-CS8 pick with 13 goals and 16 assists. Senior Drea Smith is back as another all-CS8 honoree, along with senior Callie Peters.

Kinley Richardson, Hillsboro

The senior all-South Central Conference first teamer has had a torrid start, notching four goals and three assists for a 2-0 start this season.

Madi Rigdon, Williamsville

The senior defender helped mop up the team’s second straight regional title and was all-Sangamo Conference first team. She had four goals and nine assists. Junior goalkeeper Lilly Johns had 14 shutouts and was all-Sangamo second team.

Caroline Sheehan, Sacred Heart-Griffin

The junior midfielder racked up 15 goals and five assists for a spot on the IHSSCA all-sectional lineup.

Natalie Smaga, Riverton/Buffalo Tri-City

The senior defender was named all-Sangamo Conference second team with four defensive shutouts. Keirstan Shamblin will lead the offense with 13 goals and seven assists.

Sophia Smith, Pleasant Plains

The senior striker was voted all-Sangamo Conference first team with 19 goals and 10 assists.

Abi Stephens, Chatham Glenwood

The senior goalkeeper recorded 16 shutouts. Junior defender Delaney Kyes will buttress the back line following the departures of standouts Haden Vlcek and Ali Matthews. Vlcek, last year’s Large School Girls Soccer Player of the Year, departed early to play at Indiana University.

Brooklyn Termine, Williamsville

The sophomore midfielder debuted with 28 goals and 10 assists and made the IHSSCA all-sectional cut. Fellow sophomore Kendyl Mirabile also thrived with 13 goals and 10 assists. Junior forward Clair Carter had 12 goals and five assists.

Ella Wilcockson, Pleasant Plains

The junior striker overcame a leg injury and unleashed 22 goals and eight assists after furnishing 33 goals as a freshman.

Makenna Yeager, Chatham Glenwood

The senior midfielder chipped in five goals and 10 assists and will play at NCAA Division II University of Illinois Springfield. She recently led the girls basketball team to its first ever state appearance as the starting point guard.
