Today’s daily digit

A somewhat subjective rating of the day’s weather, on a scale of 0 to 10.

6/10: I think we can salvage most outdoor plans today — just be flexible with a possible passing shower and a bit of a breeze. Bundle up a bit, as it remains cool and fairly cloudy.

Express forecast

  • Today: Semi-cloudy, breezy. Shower? Highs: 49-56.
  • Tonight: Less wind, mainly clear. Lows: 34-40.
  • Tomorrow: Variably cloudy, windy. Highs: 49-56.
  • Sunday: Fewer clouds, less breeze. Highs: Upper 50s to low 60s.

Forecast in detail

We’ll have a bit of a broken weather record for two more days with some clouds and showers (maybe graupel again today) flaring up during the midday and afternoon. Temperatures remain cooler than typical until Sunday’s increased sunshine and calmer conditions bring us back closer to average. A warming trend takes hold early next week.

Today (Friday): Sunshine levels are hard to pin down, but we should see brighter skies early and late day. Partial to full cloudiness at times during the midmorning to midafternoon hours could deliver some showers. Some snow grains or graupel could fall from the heaviest activity. High temperatures shoot for the low to mid-50s. West-northwest breezes amp up during the same timeline as the slight precipitation chances. We could see some gusts near 30 mph, creating a wind chill around 5 degrees lower than the air temperature. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Clouds should quickly give way to mostly clear skies. Wind gusts from the west-northwest may still gust around 20 mph. Temperatures just before dawn briefly dip into mid- and upper 30s most spots. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Saturday): Another day, another midday bubbling up of clouds with a few showers possible. Winds from the northwest increase again, perhaps gusting once or twice near 35 mph. Sunshine levels could vary at times; stay tuned for slight updates to the forecast. High temperatures top out in a familiar range near the mid-50s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Clouds should slowly clear as winds die down. Temperatures bottom out in the mid- to upper 30s. Confidence: Medium-High

Sunday: Most weather categories improve. Dry conditions, greater sunshine, less of a breeze and warmer high temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s should make for a decent one. Confidence: Medium-High

A look ahead

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a stray shower possible near sunrise. Winds should be calm or near calm. Temperatures bottom out in the mid-30s to around 40 degrees. Confidence: Medium

Our warming trend starts to get going Monday with highs in the 60s and Tuesday with 70s more likely. A few clouds could be around Monday but probably not enough to heavily obscure the sky. Otherwise, it’s fairly bright and breezes are rather tame. Remember to use protective glasses when viewing Monday’s partial solar eclipse starting around 2 p.m. (maximum coverage will be 89 percent at 3:20 p.m.). Confidence: Medium
