Harrisburg woman killed in overnight Turnpike crash

A Harrisburg woman was killed early Thursday when a tractor-trailer crashed into her car while she was stopped on the Turnpike in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Kelly M. Little, 38, was stopped for an unknown reason around 2:10 a.m. in the right lane of Interstate 76 west at mile marker 277.6 in Clay Township, according to state police. The headlights and taillights of her Mercedes-Benz SUV were on, state police said.

That’s when a tractor-trailer driven by a 64-year-old man from Berks County approached. He was driving west at 65 mph when he told police he saw the Mercedes stopped and tried brake, but couldn’t avoid a collision. He crashed into the back of Little’s SUV, state police said.

The impact shoved Little’s SUV off the highway, where it overturned. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Additional details on the circumstances of the crash were not immediately available.
