A 4-year-old gelding who had yet to run a race has died after suffering a training injury at Santa Anita Park, state horse racing officials confirmed.
Buffalo Run died Friday, according to the California Horse Racing Board, which offered no further information about his death other than listing it as “musculoskeletal.” His last official workout was in December 2022, according to the industry website Equibase.
He is the seventh horse to die from a racing or training injury at Santa Anita this year, six of them from training injuries.
