Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on April 16, 2024 Photo: Amazon Since the start of the year, I’ve been on an organizational journey. While I’ve made progress on various closets, my main nemesis is my kitchen. I am never not cleaning my kitchen. No, seriously. I would be kind of impressed with my ability to create culinary chaos if it also wasn’t ruining my entire life. (Well, maybe not ruining my entire life, but the constant cleaning does eat up a lot of my time.) This kitchen madness transcends to my fridge as well. I’m constantly losing food in its abyss because it’s so hard to find literally anything. But I’ve finally decided enough is enough and it is time to get to the bottom of this problem. I realized a major reason for the untidiness is that I don’t have proper storage solutions for my meal prep and leftovers. So, in a Hail Mary attempt to change my life, I purchased a 60-piece set of food storage containers from Rubbermaid. And let me tell you: It’s the best money I’ve ever spent. Rubbermaid 60-Pack Food Storage Containers Amazon Buy on Amazon $45 $39 The 60-piece set includes six 0.5-cup, six 1/25-cup, six 2-cup, five 3-cup, four 5-cup, two 7-cup, and one 9-cup container, all with corresponding lids. The versatility in size is one of my favorite parts, as it means there is always a place for everything. Whether it’s leftovers or some snacks like cashews, there’s always a container that’s the perfect size for the job. The storage containers in this set are plastic with clear reservoirs and easy-to-find red lids. A bonus is that these containers are stackable, making them easy to keep tidy. In fact, I’ve found that it’s actually difficult to not keep things organized when all of my storage containers have the same design. I can’t help but wonder why I didn’t buy a new set sooner. But let me talk about the lids for a second. Some of them (the ones on the larger containers that would hold leftovers) have a little vent tab on the top. This means I can use them in the microwave without having to dirty another dish, and it also keeps my microwave clean by reducing splatters. The containers are also dishwasher-safe, which is essential. This means that even if I’m storing a tomato sauce or a turmeric-based curry, they never stain. In fact, they come out of the dishwasher looking good as new every single time. The Rubbermaid storage container set is only available with red lids. However, there are multiple choices regarding the size, ranging from a 4-pack to a 60-pack. I went with the 60-piece set because I needed a completely new set, and I’m so glad I grabbed it. If you’re someone who is an avid meal prepper, a disorganized mess like me, or simply looking for better storage solutions for your food, this is the perfect set for you. And right now, each container is less than $1 apiece.
