It's been a tumultuous and uncertain time for the tourism industry and many businesses who's fortunes are inextricably linked with the willingness of the rest of the world to visit and experience the natural wonders of tropical north Queensland.

Nowhere more so than the iconic Daintree River and rainforest, where unprecedented floodwaters in December unleashed a human scale and ecological disaster.

As the slow recovery process continues, there's still an underlying confidence in the beauty and diversity of the landscape that underpins the local economy.

Join ABC Far North breakfast presenter Charlie McKillop as she climbs aboard with boat tour operator Alex Pawlow and a few other seasoned river 'watchers'.
