2 from NE Ohio dead after Florida boating incident

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WJW) — A 36-year-old and a 4-year-old from Stark County were found dead following a boating incident on a Florida lake.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in a news release identified the victims as 36-year-old Wayne Raber and 4-year-old Josiah Kayden Raber, both of Wilmot.

Florida authorities on Saturday, April 13, responded to a report of an incident involving a single vessel behind a water treatment plant on Ward Lake in the state’s Manatee County.

They found one person dead in the water near a boat. The other victim was found two days later in the water nearby, on Monday, April 15.

“All the members of the [commission] want to express their sincere sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased,” reads the release.

The cause of the incident is still being actively investigated.
