CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Summer is almost here. Schools will let out soon. The end of the school year is a favorable time to find a job in education, and a job fair is being held next week to help.

The Education Job Fair is set for April 25 at the Educational Service Center (ESC) of Eastern Ohio in Canfield.

This is the time of year when schools get resignations or retirements for the next school year. That is why this is an ideal time to find applicants, according to Madison Woolman, human resources generalist for the ESC of Eastern Ohio.

“So it really ramps up between now and July, so this is the opportune time. If you’re looking to start your career in education… attend this job fair to begin networking with districts,” Woolman said.

Those at the job fair will be looking for teachers but also to find other important roles at schools.

“We’re hoping to kind of fill that gap as well and maybe get some substitute teachers, classroom assistants, food service workers, bus drivers, and anyone really who wants to work in education,” Woolman said.

There’s also a need for speech-language pathologists and school psychologists.

Sixteen Mahoning County districts will be represented at the Education Job Fair.

“You are going to be meeting with the superintendents and maybe some principals as well, so it’s really nice. This is a great opportunity to actually meet face-to-face prior to an interview with people that are actually going to be hiring you,” Woolman said.

The Education Job Fair is 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25. Pre-registering is preferred, but it’s not required. Pre-register at esceasternohio.org/jobfair.
