JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Thousands are still left without power after powerful storms hit Mississippi Tuesday night.

In a post on X Wednesday morning, Governor Tate Reeves said that there are approximately 32,000 power outages across the state.

Storm damage also included the following:

• 12 homes damaged in Hinds County

• 2 homes damaged in Neshoba County

• 1 home destroyed in Warren County

• 8 homes damaged and 1 house destroyed in Yazoo County

The governor added that downed trees have resulted in multiple roads being closed in Hinds and Yazoo County.

“It’s extremely important to keep in mind that our state is expected to experience more severe weather today,” the governor wrote. “There’s a real possibility that the situation could get worse before it gets better. Please prepare in advance of today’s storms — it can be the difference between life and death and keeping your family safe.”
