Viltrox Luna 30-300mm T4 Full Frame Zoom Lens First Look

In somewhat of a surprise, Viltrox was showing a gigantic Luna 30-300mm T4 full frame zoom lens at NAB 2024 in Las Vegas.

Viltrox told me that it was created as a statement lens to showcase optical quality at the highest level.

The lens has a constant T4 aperture across the entire zoom range and it covers image circles of up to 46.5mm.

The Luna 30-300mm T4 weighs in at a whopping 33 lbs / 15 kg.

To get another reference as to just how big it is, above you can see it nest a Viltrox 75mm 1.33x anamorphic lens.

There isn’t a ton of information about the new lens or any details about its optical construction, but one things for sure, there is a lot of glass inside!

The front diameter of the lens is 165mm. The minimum object distance is 1.26m / 4ft 2in.

Vilrox is targeting the lens at wildlife and sports shooters and they have already had interest from NASCAR.

What is also interesting is that Viltrox will also be bringing out a 22-200mm T2.8 S35 Luna zoom. They are also working on a large zoom that will cover 65mm sensors. I can’t tell you anymore than that at this stage, but I have seen what is coming.

Price & Availability

The Viltrox Luna 30-300mm T4 Full Frame Zoom Lens will be available at it will retail for around $65,000 USD. While that sounds like a lot of money, for a lens with this focal range and aperture that covers a 46.5mm image circle it is actually reasonably priced.
