Greenville’s Peace Center reveals its new Broadway lineup

The Peace Center’s 2024-2025 Broadway season includes two of the Great White Way’s all-time hits. The 10-show season sponsored by Gibbs Cancer Center includes Disney’s The Lion King and Hamilton.

The eight other shows in the 14-week season are new national touring productions making their first appearance at the Peace Center, according to a news release.

“The energy this Peace Broadway season carries is astounding,” Peace Center President and CEO Megan Riegel said in the news release. “The titles we have curated are among the most popular, creative and award-winning shows on Broadway today. The convenience of experiencing such exceptional entertainment right here at home is a tremendous value to our community.”

The season opens with The Lion King, which runs Sept 11-29. The Broadway version of the show won six Tony Awards and became the world’s No. 1 musical. It features music from Elton John and Tim Rice.

The rest of the season includes:

  • & Juliet, Oct. 15-20, a musical that flips the script on the best-known love story in the English language. The story explodes what happens next if Juliet decided not to end it all over Romeo.
  • A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical, Jan. 14-19, 2025, a true story on how one of America’s greatest hitmakers became a star. The show includes songs from Diamond’s catalog, including “America” and “forever in Bluejeans.”
  • Hamilton, the massive hit that made a musical out of the rise of U.S. founding father Alexander Hamilton with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Runs Feb. 4-16.
  • Shucked, March 11-16, 2025, is a Tony Award-winning musical comedy features a score by Grammy winners Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.
  • Moulin Rouge! The Musical, runs April 15-27, 2025.  The musical version of a legendary film explores a world where Bohemians and aristocrats rub elbows at the down of 20th century Paris.
  • Back to the Future: The Musical was the winner of the 2022 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. It combines hit songs from the movie and original music by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. It runs May 13-18, 2025.
  • Some Like It Hot, running June 10-15, 2025, won four Tony Awards on Broadway. It’s a story of two musicians who flee Prohibition-era Chicago after witnessing a mob hit.
  • Life of Pi, won three Tony Awards and the Olivier for Best Play during its Broadway and West End run. Based on a novel that sold 15 million copies, it’s a story about a boy named Pi who survives a shipwreck on a raft with four animals, including a tiger. It runs July 8-13, 2025.
  • Kimberly Akimbo, running Aug. 5-10, 2025, is a new musical, the winner of five Tonys, about growing up. It features music by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori.
