Thick smoke fills Iron County air from property fire

IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A large plume of black smoke filled the air in Iron County after a residential property near Antelope Road was engulfed in flames on Tuesday, April 16.

Iron County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to the fire just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday due to a “large wooden structure” on fire. Detectives said the fire fully engulfed a two-story wooden shed and a trailer house. Both were completely burned to the ground.

Another small wooden shed was partially burned but reportedly left standing. Iron County Sheriff’s Office said a family home was located near the flames but it stayed safe from the fire and didn’t take any damage.

The family living on the property were not home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries. Iron County Sheriff’s Office said detectives are unsure how the fire started and have so far found nothing suspicious.

An investigation is ongoing and no additional information was released.
