Gearing up for a weekend trip to Kansas, the East Central College baseball Falcons split a doubleheader with the Westminster College JV team Thursday.
East Central (27-14) won the opener, 9-0, but the Blue Jays took the second game, 7-4.

Gearing up for a weekend trip to Kansas, the East Central College baseball Falcons split a doubleheader with the Westminster College JV team Thursday.
East Central (27-14) won the opener, 9-0, but the Blue Jays took the second game, 7-4.
In the first game, four East Central pitchers combined to shut out the Blue Jays, 9-0.
Ayden Gates (Floresville, Texas) started and went two innings. He allowed a hit and a walk while striking out four.
Keagan Lawlor (Arcadia Valley, Central Methodist University) pitched the next two innings, allowing a hit, two walks and two hit batters. He struck out four.
Clayton Neihouse (Holt) pitched two frames, walking three and striking out three.
Mason Snider (Pacific) pitched the seventh, striking out one.
Offensively, East Central set the tone with two runs in the first and four in the second. The Falcons added two runs in the fourth and another in the sixth.
At the plate, Jackson Kirn (Eureka) and Hayden Cook (Lafayette) both had three hits at the top of the order. Kirn doubled twice and Cook had one double.
Jose Alfonso (Miami Christian, Navarro College, Hialeah, Florida) had two hits, including a home run.
Adam Hanan (Francis Howell North), Joshren Magnaye (Bloor, Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and Ian Lancaster (Kirkwood) singled.
Kirn and Alex Allman (Dyer County, Tennessee) walked.
Allman and Lancaster were hit by pitches.
Alfonso had a sacrifice fly.
Hanan, Cook, Jackson Bell (Northwest) and Kirn stole bases.
Kirn scored three times. Cook and Allman scored twice. Alfonso and Lancaster scored once.
Alfonso drove in three runs. Cook had two RBIs and Hanan plated one.
In the second game, East Central scored once in the bottom of the first, but Westminster tied it in the second.
The Blue Jays put six runs on the board in the fourth and that was enough to seal the win.
The Falcons chipped into the lead with one run in the fifth, and two in the sixth, but couldn’t get closer.
Each side had five hits in the game.
Cook led the Falcons with two hits, including a double.
Magnaye homered.
Aidan Gaither (Columbia, Illinois) and Anthony Broeker (St. Clair) both singled.
Hanan and Joey Reichmuth (Rockwood Summit) walked. Allman was hit by a pitch.
Hanan, Gaither, Magnaye and Broeker scored the runs.
Magnaye drove in two. Cook had one RBI.
Aiden Strickland (Hickman, Mineral Area College) pitched the first two innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit. He struck out four.
Robert Bulloc (Rockhurst) pitched 1.2 innings and took the loss. He allowed four runs on one hit, three walks and a hit batter. Bulloc struck out two.
Landon Cann (Francis Howell Central) closed out the game, tossing 3.1 innings while allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and one hit batter. He struck out three.
After playing three games at Hesston this weekend, the Falcons head to Mineral Area College Tuesday for a doubleheader, starting at noon.
The next home games are against North Central Missouri College Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20.
