UMD Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Northern State

Bulldogs win fourth home game of 2023 season

DULUTH, Minn.- Following Saturday’s 8-6 victory against Northern State, the UMD baseball team ended their three-game series with a loss and another win against the Wolves on Sunday.

In game one of Sunday’s doubleheader, Northern State won 10-7 after scoring 8 runs between the second and fifth innings. UMD was gearing up for a rally with four runs scored in the sixth inning, but the Wolves retained their lead through the end of the seventh inning.

The Bulldogs’ bats started to connect in game two as they won 11-8. UMD took control from the get-go, scoring five runs in the first inning. Troy Lynch led UMD at the plate, going 4-5 with three RBI and a run. On the mound, Henry Wilkinson struck out three batters and allowed six runs in 7.1 innings.

UMD (13-21) won’t get much rest with a doubleheader against St. Cloud State (21-13) scheduled for this Wednesday.
