JACK COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — A man suspected of beating a woman to death inside a residence in Jacksboro on Tuesday has been identified.

Lee Martinez, 35, of Jacksboro, was booked into the Jack County Jail at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, on a charge of murder, according to the Jack County Jail online roster.

As of the publication of this story, no bond has been set for Martinez.

Officers with the Jacksboro Police Department responded to the 400 block of North 4th Street at 11:56 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, regarding an unattended death.

Chief Bryan Corb with Jacksboro PD said when officers arrived, they observed a male subject sitting in a chair on the porch. Officers said the front door of the residence was open.

According to Chief Corb, as officers approached, they discovered the body of a deceased female lying face down on the floor. Upon further investigation, it was determined the victim had been beaten to death.

Authorities said the suspect was found to have injuries on his hands consistent with the incident, so he was arrested and transported to Jack County Jail for holding.

Officials with the Jacksboro Police Department have not yet identified the victim. Chief Corb said the victim and the suspect are related and lived in the same residence, but he did not disclose the nature of their relationship.

Chief Corb said more information will be disseminated if additional information is obtained.
