Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway will return to screens on Saturday, April 13, with the final episode in the 2024 series and the last show in a while. The presenters announced back in 2023 that they were planning on taking a break from the show after the 20th season of the popular ITV programme.

The final episode is set to see the boys bow out with a bang with an extended episode, lots of surprises, and the return of many famous faces. Viewers will also see the popular prank Get Out Of Me Ear turned on its head as celebrities who have taken part in the skit get their revenge on Ant and Dec.

The final episode is set to be an "emotional" one for Ant and Dec who have announced they will be taking a break from the series and haven't confirmed when it will return. Speaking during an interview earlier this year Dec said: "We are going to give the show a little bit of a rest. We need a little bit of a rest. We've done it once before back in 2009 and this feels like the right time – we are getting a bit older and we just need a little bit of time off, because it's such a year-round thing for us this show so we just need a little bit of a break from it."

Here's absolutely everything you can expect from the last episode of Saturday Night Takeaway ahead of the 2024 final.

When does the Saturday Night Takeaway final start and finish?

SNT has long been dubbed the happiest 90 minutes of the week but for the finale episode viewers can expect a two-hour live extravaganza which will be filmed across the whole of the television centre. It means Saturday Night Takeaway will kick off at 7pm on Saturday, April 13, and end at 9pm.

Speaking about the work that has gone into the last show Andi Peters told Good Morning Britain on Friday, April 12: "I was with [Ant and Dec] yesterday and nerves are beginning to set in. This year is a 20-year heritage. I think now they are getting a little bit emotional about what's going to happen come 9pm tomorrow because it's a two-hour extended show. They have taken over the whole of the television centre – local shops had to shut.

"That's how big this is going to be and remember it's one of ITV's biggest shows, longest-running formats and tomorrow's show is... I can't tell you and I know a bit about what's going to be in the show." You can read more about this here.

Pop group Girls Aloud are the 2024 final's Star Guest Announcers while Get Out Of Me Ear: The Revenge will see celebrities who have fallen victim to the prank over the years get their own back. Celebrities joining Ant and Dec live in the studio are Simon Cowell, Davina McCall, Rylan, Oti Mabuse, Amanda Holden, Dermot O'Leary, Craig David, and Alison Hammond. There will also be a super-sized Singalong with S Club, Tony Hadley, and Kaiser Chiefs while show favourite Ring my Bell will return for a final outing.

In a 20-series look-back moment ITV is ending Ant vs Dec the same way they started with a football penalty shootout – this was the very first Ant vs Dec final game way back in series five. Stephen Mulhern is also bringing back Kirsty Gallacher and Ashley Roberts to help him so all Ant v Dec hosts across the years will be together for the first time.

Ben Foster and Clive Tyldesley will also feature while Andi Peters will present his final SNT competition and Jordan North, Josie Gibson, and Scarlett Moffatt will be bringing joy for unsuspecting members of the public. ITV added: "There's a special montage of SNT’s best bits from the past 20 series, Win the Ads will have the biggest prize pot in the show's history, more live surprises, and an amazing End of the Show Show!"

Is the 2024 final the last-ever SNT episode?

There's been a lot of confusion over whether Saturday Night Takeaway is ending for good or just going on a little break. However Ant and Dec have confirmed a number of times that the show is taking a hiatus and will be back at some point in the future.

Ant and Dec originally announced the break last year with a video posted to their joint Instagram. The pair said: "We've decided that our 20th series next year will be our last one for a little while. The show takes up such a lot of our year we just feel we need a bit of a breather and that the show is going to take a little bit of a rest."

In a more recent interview on This Morning Ant and Dec said they knew in their "heart of hearts" that it was time to take a break from the show but that it was not an easy decision to make. Dec said: "When we first came to the decision to rest it we told our management and we said: 'But we reserve the right to change our minds several times' and we have. But we knew in our heart of hearts it's the right thing to do but we've waivered quite a lot."

Ant added: "It's been quite hard knowing it's the final week of rehearsals. We've kind of kept a lid on it until now... we are very lucky that the public have loved it for so long and loved it as much as we loved it."
