The Colorado Springs Police Department announced an arrest in the crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist in late February.
According to a Wednesday afternoon announcement, 58-year-old Shu Chi Wang was arrested Monday on charges consisting of careless driving resulting in death, and vehicles turning left.Â
On the evening of Feb. 29 at 9:34 p.m., officers received reports of a traffic crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and York Drive in Colorado Springs, police said.Â
According to officials, police on the scene learned the driver of the motorcycle had already been transported to the hospital where he later died of injuries received as a result of the crash.Â
On March 5, the El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist as 43-year-old Jacob Munson.Â
According to police, Munson's death marks the 11th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs of 2024. At the same time last year, there were 11 traffic fatalities.Â
