ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A man who caused a crash that killed a 3-month-old and injured two others was given bond Tuesday morning in Anderson County.

7NEWS reported the crash happened on April 4 on Highway 29 near Welcome Road.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said a concrete truck crashed into a car, which was stopped in traffic on U.S. 29., causing that car to hit a pickup truck.

Both the driver and passenger in the car were flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The passenger, identified as 3-month-old Jakai Govan, died from his injuries at the hospital, according to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner said the concrete truck was driving too fast for conditions and it overturned down an embankment.

South Carolina Highway Patrol identified the driver as Creshuan Dojaun Rainey.

Rainey told troopers that he was on his phone at the time of the crash.

He was charged with reckless homicide resulting in death and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.

He appeared in bond court Tuesday morning where he was given a $30,000 bond.
