*HBO’s Jon Snow spinoff series, much to the disappointment of “Game of Thrones” fans, is no longer in development.

Kit Harrington confirmed that the planned spinoff centered around his beloved character has been shelved indefinitely, as writers could not find the right story to tell.

The actor told Screen Rant that the creative team examined “every angle” to “see whether it’s worth it.”

“Currently, it’s not,” he added. “Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being.”

“I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development,” Harrington shared. “I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen.”

In the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, per THR, “Jon Snow discovered his true name was Aegon Targaryen, a potential heir to the Iron Throne. In the series finale, he was exiled from Westeros and journeyed North of the Wall with the Wildlings to leave his old life behind,” the outlet writes.

It was initially announced that Harington would reprise his role in a spinoff centered on Jon Snow’s life beyond the Wall.

Meanwhile, the second season of “House of the Dragon,” the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, will debut on HBO in June.

Matt Smith returns as Daemon Targaryen along with Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham, per Variety

The actors joining the season 2 cast include Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne, Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

“House of the Dragon” is set 200 years before the events in “Game of Thrones” and chronicles the rise and fall of the Targaryen empire. The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s book “Fire & Blood.” Martin is the co-creator and executive producer of the show. Watch the new trailer below.

HBO’s “House of The Dragon” returns June 16, 2024, on HBO MAX.
