MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WBRC) - Two women who work at a daycare in Montevallo are being accused of abusing a 2-year-old.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56-year-old Tanya Lapsley and 63-year-old Wanda Henderson on charges of aggravated child abuse.

The District Attorney’s office says that in February, each of the women forcibly jerked, pulled, and snatched the toddler leaving marks and bruises. The D.A. says the abuse happened more than once.

“Our family is praying for the offenders and all of the families affected. We hope the justice system prevails,” said one of the mothers of the allegedly abused.

At this time, the women are being held in the Shelby County Jail with a bond set at $180,000 each.
