ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Another person has pleaded guilty to being involved in nationwide marijuana trafficking and money laundering conspiracies, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Lateek White, 53, of Brooklyn, was indicted on multiple charges back in 2023 alongside over 20 other defendants.

White confessed to being a member of a trafficking organization that shipped thousands of pounds of marijuana and THC products from Fresno, California to multiple locations across the country, including the Capital Region. He admitted that both he and his sister, Onisha Smith, personally received a total of 71 packages containing 648 pounds of marijuana that were sent from California to their apartments in Brooklyn.

He also admitted to laundering money from marijuana sales on behalf of the group. White pleaded guilty on April 10, becoming the eighth member of the conspiracy to plead guilty.

White faces 10 years and up to life in prison, fines totaling up to $8.5 million and a term of post-release supervision between 8 years and up to life when he is sentenced. The investigation into the conspiracy remains ongoing.
