As the Richmond Ivy Soccer Club’s women’s pre-professional team prepares for their first game on May 11, excitement for what’s ahead grows rampant. For anyone who wishes to join in on the fun, their website, featuring a countdown to the opening game, is a great starting point.
“The support from the community has been out of this world,” Sporting Director at Richmond Ivy Soccer Club Madeline McCracken said. “We’ve sold over 600 Founder’s Club member tickets, and we’re in the process of selling season tickets, which we’ve seen a big spike in as well.”
In addition to community and group tickets, locals who want to show their support can peruse branded merchandise under the “shop” tab on the team’s website. Shop the team’s crest, a selection of scarves, baseball caps, T-shirts, crewnecks and hoodies in “Richmond” and “Ivy” green.

“A really cool thing that we have are Richmond Ivy flags,” McCracken said, adding that this is something fun to bring to games. “And I’m even seeing Ivy stickers on the backs of cars, which is awesome.”
Soon, fans will also be able to sport the women’s pre-professional league jerseys, which every sport enthusiast knows is a true staple for game days. A selection of keychains and decals are available now too.
For soccer fans who are interested in live action, a slew of in-person events have begun and will continue to be held leading up to the women’s premiere game. On April 20, the Richmond Ivy Soccer Club will host a “For the W” theme night celebrating the Ivy at the men’s USL League One home game against Spokane Velocity. There, locals will be able to chat with coaches and players from the women’s league team and learn more about their goals and aspirations as a team.
“People will be able to get that first W League experience … at a Kickers men’s game, which is really exciting” McCracken said. She also cited the team’s launch party, which boasted 300 guests, as a prime example of the excitement building around the team. The Ivy brand was launched on March 13 including a brand new crest and branding.
“In terms of community, the support for this team has just been through the roof,” said McCracken. “People are reaching out on social media and purchasing merchandise and season tickets in addition to the Founder’s Club tickets, so we’re really thrilled and pleased with the responses we’ve gotten.”
With the ongoing community interest, McCracken also mentioned the overwhelming interest from organizations and businesses in the community looking to support the Ivy with more sponsorship opportunities available.
